Southern Methodist University,
M.Ed.: Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Urban Schools
University of Tennessee BA:
Psychology with a Minor in Child and Family Studies with Honors

Brittany Thompson has dedicated her career to the challenges faced in urban education, uplifted by the inspiring work of Dallas ISD, mentored by impactful leaders, and working alongside those she leads in order to make a lasting impact in the communities she has served.

Originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brittany joined Teach for America and landed at J L Long Middle School as a 6th grade teacher. She quickly stepped into leadership, steering the Language & Literature Department in the process of Long becoming authorized as the first International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme school in Dallas ISD.

Brittany was subsequently promoted to Instructional Coach at John Quincy Adams Elementary, and then Assistant Principal. While at JQA, Brittany led the Mathematics department, realizing double digit gains.

Returning to middle school, Brittany is especially proud of the work she did at TC Marsh, merging DISD Achieving in the Middle (AIM) initiatives with the Institute for Learning (IFL) core practices, thereby increasing the quality of student writing, literary analysis, and discourse in the classrooms, and once again, doubling student growth from the prior year.

A lifelong learner, Brittany enjoys reading (of course!) and spending time doing just about anything outdoors with her family and her two beautiful stepdaughters. She has recently started running, inspired by her dad who is an avid long-distance runner, and using the time to clear her head and be ready for the next challenge.
